[Cop Prospect]

Iv'e read on other department forums that Police officers usually get sent out to the streets on their own. Is this true for the NYPD? Ive yet to see a solo police officer all all day by himself or driving a squad car by himself like they do in reality cop shows, and if they do isn't that unsafe for the officer? I know i would feel better if i had a partner with me all the time. 2 heads are always better than one in my opinion especially in a rough neighborhood.

Depends on where you work...When I worked for a Sheriff's Office, it was solo patrol in a rural county of almost 1000 square miles. 6 Deputies and a handful of State Troopers to cover it all. In the City, you'll have solo foot post, and solo fixers, but when you make it into a sector you'll have a partner.
