As much as we would like to have what the title says we don't.
So I'm wondering how or what would need to be done in order to get a transit police department here in San Diego?.
Rather than having security, and or Public officers (code compliance).
I heard Harbor Pd was once Harbor Public Safety.....(not sure how true that is)

A miracle. I have heard they will be legally required to have a sworn presence after they extend the trolley line to University City. However, that may never happen.
They pay the Heritage Security Guards 10-15 bucks an hour. Cops get like 40-50 when you include benies.
With the anti tax crowd cheapskates that run this town it won't happen.
Too bad. I work downtown. Transit Police is sorely needed. At least for the trolley lines. Each trolley stop is like a different drug buying area. Exit 5th Ave for crack, 12th/Imperial for weed, Cesar Chavez for heroin, Old Town for meth etc etc

Yeah, that's what they have said, something about it crossing federal property or something to that nature. Who knows when that will happen.

Yeap, That's true 12th and Imperial with all the St. Vinnies folks....all sitting and chilling drinking their beers, and slanging their rocks at the petco park parking lot.

If they do make the transition, I assume they will need people and I'll throw my name in the hat because I am speculating that some of the security officers will not be able to meet POST backgrounds for peace officer and not transition.

LOL, some? more like 80% of them will not be able to pass POST backgrounds. Thats just security side.
The code compliance are better a little better, but their is some old timers that arent about being proactive or law enforcement.

Why not have a special detail of SDPD?
You know, I like San Diego, you guys are spoiling my tourist fantasy with reality. Sure you have gang members slinging crack but in typical SD style even they smile and wave at you.

Yeah they might be doing that after the jacked you. I dont know what kinda Gang-Bangers/ Bums / Transients /. You have run into but, wait till you head to downtown and see all the loose 5150's running around.
Oh and it cant a special detail with SDPD, since the trolley runs into different jurisdictions. If anything it would have to be SDSO's being the "trolley cops".
but now with off topic,
back to topic
How can San Diego get a Transit Pd?
