I'm 19 years old just moved to San Bernardino about a month ago from Las Vegas. I was wondering if there are any jobs I can get that would look good when applying for the police force while still giving me a paycheck. I'm trying to go to college but I don't have the money which leads me back to the same point I started out on and i'm trying to find anything but everything seems to not be hiring... Any help would be appreciated.

The military. Otherwise get student loans and get your degree first.

You can try non-sworn LE positions which are full-time, like CSO (Community Service Officer) or PSO (Police Services Officer). Most places are not hiring due to budget constraints but I would actively look for a position next year.

Some agencies will allow you to be hired as a Police Cadet/Explorer, where you can work parttime while going to school (some restrict the maximum age that you can be a Cadet though).

I would try working fulltime as a PSO or CSO for a year, then go back to school and work PT as an explorer/Police Cadet. Those out of state tuition rates are going to be killer (nearly 10X the cost of resident tuition), and you need to establish at least 1 year residency here in CA before being eligible for resident student rates.

Or, the military can help as well. Up to you.

Doesn't LASD hire at 19 1/2 ? I have a friend who got picked up by them I think he start the academy in July as what i was told.
