Does anyone know what their hiring situation is like? It looks ongoing according to their site. I am very interested in applying. I am currently in the hirng process with a department on the Central Coast and Los Angeles. However, I would really like to have a few more options on the table. I would very much appreciate it if anyone had any info.

Good department, busy busy busy, always hiring, not sure how the economy has hit them though.

I don't work for RPD (but work for a neighboring agency) and have heard a lot of good things about them. They also seem to be constantly hiring...especially if you're what they're looking for in an officer.

I've been told Richmond has the highest call volume in Contra Costa County so you'll work hard and gain experience quickly. The city also has some serious gang issues and just had their 28th homicide of the year. If you're looking to work in an affluent community with lots of downtime, then Richmond PD is not the department for you. On the other hand, if you're eager to work hard and take some serious criminals to jail, RPD may just be your kind of department.
