First of all let me state that this is in no way intended to disrespect our military or the important job they are doing overseas in that cesspool called Iraq.

Our illustrious governor is off gallavanting again. I wonder if this trip is being paid for by taxpayer dollars? Maybe he is over there checking up on the New York State C.O's that are currently serving in the armed forces in Iraq....just to make sure they aren 't screwing the state out of anything.....

Whats the point. While many of our brother and sister officers who are military are overseas fighting for our freedoms. Gov. Patterson is trying to take and take and take. Whats there for them to come back too? We need to hammer out a contract and now.

December 23, 2008 - NYSCOPBA's Opening Statement as delivered by William Sheehan, Esq. Testimony was also given by Donn Rowe, President; Chris Hickey, Exec. VP; Dave Viddivo, Sgt.'s Liaison. Their testimony will be contained in the officials transcripts to be posted at a later date.

I know this does not fix anything, but there is a little comfort in that the process is going ahead as scheduled!!

March 16, 2009 is the last date currently set up for GOER ("State") to present their case to the Arbitrator. I'm told the Arbitrator has 30 days to make his decision after that.

Take that for whatever it means? News by May 1st next year???

Well, I am sure not hoping for a contract under my tree this year! I do hope that Gov. Patterson decides to stay in Iraq, maybe that will put a smile on my face this year as I work on Xmas day.

I've been hearing 2010 at the earliest.
My best guess would be to expect 0%, 0%, 6%, 6%.
In other words, forget about retro pay.
Binding Arbitration is garbage in my eyes.
All it means is that we will never vote on another contract ever again.
The union will declare an impasse each and every time thus assuring that the State can shove any garbage contract down our collective throats that they see fit to do.

If (...I should say when) Patterson get this tierV passed, will all new C.O.'s fall under it, or do you guys negotiate a seperate contract from the other state civil service departments?

Each union negotiates their own contracts. Usually, the first that ratifies theirs, the others get "me too" type deals. Similar raises, etc..

That is pretty much how it works here in Iowa too.......................
