I started my academy on Saturday and took the POST Reading , Writing, Comprehension Test. The first half seemed fairly simple. The second portion with the fill in the blanks drove me crazy. It seems like an easy task at first , but as it progressed I had a very hard time figuring out what the word was. Out of the 40 fill in's , I bet I was lucky to get 15.

The CLOZE is probably the hardest part out of the test. I couldn't fill in 3 of them. Don't worry about it. As long as your T-score is over 42, you're fine.

It's a challenge. I fill in all the easy ones first, then re-read the paragraphs for context. This is really testing your vocabulary. If you think of a word that fits the number of spaces and jives with the context, then you're right, even if the test givers were going for a different word. I usually jam through the first part, then spend a lot of time on the second part. You don't get extra points for turning the test in early.

It was much more challenging than it appreared to be at first. The sample was a joke, so i assumed the actual one would be easy as well. Man was I wrong.

With this coming from you, it MUST be a hard test!

It's not that hard, she's just been out of school for too long:p

I just have fun thinking of all the words it could be. On one test, it was quoting a famous American (sorry, no more details than that), so of course I could go home and check the answer. Turns out, one of the words I came up with wasn't right. But it fit. And I got my highest score of the three times I've taken that test on that particular test. So maybe I shouldn't say it was a "challenge" but "fun." But I'm weird that way.
And yeah, I've been out of school for too long. :p

If it's the same one I took for LA Co Police, I thought it was pretty easy...

Of the two written exams I have taken, I did exactly what Copp'rPenny said; start with the easy ones, then take your time and read the full article/essay to figure out the rest. They are kinda fun, I guess I'm weird like that too :D

We got our results last night, and I passed with a 55.1. I guess I did better than I thought.
