Got one at an OB/GYN clinic today. Postmark from Africa, poor writing, sealed with tape. Not something I expected here. The folks at the clinic had sealed it in a plastic bag before we got there. We bagged it again after donning gloves and took it to FD HazMat as per our "policy". Nothing leaking or obviously wrong. Not sure what to make of it. Some heated dispute among officers as to how to deal with these. I'm in FTO so I did what I was instructed to do. Hope it was not what everyone is afraid it was. I'm going to get a copy of the policy just in case. If I come down with something my family may have some recourse. This sucks. I can deal with knives and guns if I have too. This invisible stuff is too much. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it but will find out what was in the envelope. How are others dealing with this?

Been on 4 calls myself. 3 strange powder. 1 envelop. We call for HAZ-MAT and let the HAZ-MAT chief make the call. Stuff gets sent to the FBI labs, get a call with the results in a day or two.

Hmmm, one more reason to be glad I'm retired.

Our dept has gotten a flood of these calls, nothing serious yet. A few letters filled with baby powder people have sent as jokes. It's getting old fast.

We have people taking these packages inside the police lobby and telling us that they don't know who it's from and they're sacred.

D'oh!!!

Don't take it into the PD!! So now, we have this huge sign on the door to the police station that says not to take it in and the security camera will spot you and an officer will be outside to assist you. Of course...what happens?

As big as the sign is, people still can't read and waltz on in. Oh well...

Hey, Blue, here we have the media to thank for that. First, they said that the citizens could take it to the local PD, then advocated dialing 911. Now, they just say to "contact" the local authorities. I haven't heard anyone in the media specifically say "stay at home, do NOT take it in your car to another location.
