Well the road as been long and stressful in that darn FTO program. But alas I am going into the final phase. With my Dept it is a two week trial. Either it becomes my two week notice or it becomes my future. Wish me Luck!

You will do just fine. If they thought you weren't going to make it through you never would have made it the shadow portion. When all else fails use the "Gramma Rule", what would your Gramma do to resolve the problem?
Hey TG,
I know a lot of things have happened in the past few days that have overshadowed normal life. That being said, how about letting us know what is happening with you?????
TG, I've know several folks (including by brother) that have had the laser procedure that you mentioned. It is very quick and effective. It is also not that uncommon.
It should clear things up (literally) pertty quickly.
Congrats and good luck! (sounds like you found a good department)

First off I did not mean to "write and run."
I hope all of you and your fmilies are ok and are coping with the last weeks events.
Now my update:
My dept has a 2 week "final phase." I was two days from completeing that phase. I have recenctly been having minor complications with an eye surgery that I had back in March of this year(PRK)Another story on it's own). My FTO was noticing that I was needing to get a bit closer to read plates, streets etc. He ordered me in for a medical eval. My doctor has found that I have a moderate amount of corneal haze over both my eyes. My sight is at 20/20-20/30 but the haze effects my vision(like looking thru a dirty window or a coffee can lid)
SO due to that I have been "grounded" and put into a desk until this can be fixed.
I am not bitter. I should have made that judgement call myself but I was too afraid that I was going to lose my job(still learning). I had wanted this job for years and I was able to achive that goal and I did not want to lose it. I am still employed as an officer(thank GOD) due to the high marks I had received from my FTOs, and they are willing to work with me. I will be desking it until about mid October(they will return with a laser and scrape the haze off)inwhich I will return for a two day refresher and finish the 2 days I need to complete FTO.
I have been recieving a lot of support from the other officers on the dept and of course from my academy mates which is helping(and from you guys too thanks). I was really stressed out the fisrt few weeks when this went down and that the fact that my wife is in the Reserves and she may be called up. But I am ok now and I know that God wanted me to be a cop and is testing me to see if I want to be.
