I am, but they don't have enough people to hire a class. So we are waiting for a few people from the next group. Did you hand in your packet from orientation yet?

I heard they were supposed to finalize the contract last friday. Usally that means old guys retire and new guys get hired. Has anyone else heard about this contract deal.

I am in it too. I scored a 95 on the test and made it through all the tests. There is nothing difficult with the process, just do 'exactly' as they say and you'll be fine. The psychological test isn't bad at all nor is the meeting with the psychologist, I think what most people failed on was the physical test. From what i gather from a few people, one being a current CO, the next academy is going to be sometime in early spring.

The last CO test was on 9/22/07; they can give another test after 1 year of that date. I believe that most tests last 3-4 years, I could be wrong though. Law Enforcement might be different.

I haven't heard about the contract deal going through. Did you hear anything else boxer?

The next test will probably be some time in late 2011. The contract going to arbitration, but isn't even there yet. Steve Levy is the man! (Sarcasm)...

Anyone see Steve Levy on News 12 yesterday saying that he expects the C.O. arbitration award soon? I didn’t actually see it, but when I was told last night they said Levy stated it would be awarded within weeks. Now today someone said that he said MONTHS in the conference. Did anyone see it?

Has anything ever happened with the Contract?

I'm following another forum about the binding arbitration, but there is not much information. They are supposedly in the "draft" stage now.. so the end should be near. This is Suffolk County though... things tend to take longer than they should. lol

Its going to be sometime in 2011. uhm not sure of a site, but roughly your looking at 40K starting, full benefits, and 60k after 5 years.

They don't require you to be a member of their forum, so anyone can post. So I don't believe most of the stuff on there.

The Binding Arbitration forum is in an uproar about the contract though, it might have been finalized today. This could be good news if its true :)

Same here, I haven't heard anything.

Did you hear about the layoffs Steve Levy wants in Suffolk County? From what I hear it won't go through (I hope), but listen to this. They are ready to lay off 14 C/O's, 1 C/O Investigator and 4 Deputy Sheriff Investigators.

If they can layoff all those people and still be able to operate, I don't see a class going in for a while. The last I heard was a June class, lets see if that happens anymore.

I know what you mean; it feels like we just wasted our time. They should have canvassed us in November… instead of canvassing the 90’s. Where did you hear May from? I heard June from a few Sheriff’s I talk to. But then again, they could be wrong.

Thought I'd throw this on here for anyone who doesn't read Newsday

http://www.newsday.com/long-island/suffolk/levy-to-propose-2-6b-budget-that-freezes-property-taxes-1.1455365

If you don't feel like reading the whole article here is the important part... for us at least:

"Levy's spending package, which will officially be filed Friday, includes no money for new police, but has $1.2 million for hiring 40 correction officers and 11 deputy sheriffs next year."
