I am a new officer in Pennsylvania. Does anyone know of any source for finding information on the security devices on PA Driver Licenses, Registration Cards, Inspection Stickers, etc?

Thanks for your help.

Check with your department.

BOSS HOG:
Yes, the SOURCE is your issued computer. It's easy to use. When you access the terminal in your patrol car (or at your office), enter your password + your department's log-on. That should give you access to personal records of citizens (like drivers licenses, tags, criminal histories, ect

Boss Hog said it right: Once you enter your password (plus your log-on), you should be able to find out ANYTHING about ANYONE.

Do you have a FTO?

Well, thank you for the sarcasm and cynacism.... Yes I an officer, and Yes I had an FTO, but as you can tell, he did not teach me this... also, you may have misunderstood my question.... I know there is a hologram on the licenses and inspection stickers.... but I don't know what else should be present or in what form...

As a side note, you 'veterans' who answer questions in the 'rookie' area so far appear to discourage honest questions... but please, keep up the great work!

Check with whatever state agency issues/controls those items. In Texas it is TxDot and Tx DPS. Depts and legitimate LEO's have access to this info and it's not super secret squirrel stuff. That's probably why you got the answers you did.

Well Norm,

I tried to be nice, but guess I'll have to be a little more blunt. Us "veterans" who answer questions here have been in the business for at least a couple of days. Now, I don't see a person who is an officer asking a question like this, especially on a forum that is accessible to the public. However, if an officer had a momentary

Hi Norm902:

Sorry about that. I had no idea what you meant by "security devices." http://www.officer.com/ubb/confused.gif

Your second posting made it very clear. Sorry about the confusion &, uhhh, cynacism. Cops are known to be cynical (unfortunately). http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

If you are a real LEO, check with the following:
Drivers License Guide Company
1492 Oddstad Drive
Redwood City, CA 94063
650-369-4849 www.idcheckingguide.com (http://www.idcheckingguide.com)

They produce a reference sized guide for LEO's (sold upon verification of LEO status) which helps you identify the various security features for each states license, as well as several other types of ID.
Some of the alcohol companies also hand out a condensed version from an unknown supplier which has some of the same information.
Good Luck.

tcsd & others,

Before you think I'm too big an A hole here, http://www.officer.com/ubb/frown.gif

I did send Norm an email explaining my position. We'll see if we hear from him. If he actually is LE we should.

Note to all people of uncertain lineage:
Send in ID to the admin to get the password to the restricted area. That way, we'll know if you're able to post in that area that you are legit. I know it takes a bit to get the password; hopefully the head cheese here will speed up that process.
NO disrespect to the person on this thread. We DO get a per centage of wanna be's and immitation cops in here from time to time. No disrespect to you personally.

Thank you to all for the posts and the ribbing... I know that is all part of it...

I have emailed Don as he said, and Boss Hog also.. and yes, I am in the process of getting the password. (They wouldn't let me while I was in the academy)

And to Tscd.. thank you that is exactly what I was looking for.

I apologize for not making my first post as clear as the second, and as for the cynacism- par for the course.

Thanks guys, hope to talk to you again soon.
