The other day, I responded to a theft call at a residence. I contacted the lady that lives there and told me that her daughter's bike was stolen.
As I was writing the information down, she told me this, "Officer, I just want to thank you so much for being a police officer." And she continued to thank me for it.
I didn't really know why she was thanking me, nor did it really hit me until now. It wasn't like I found her bike (although I actually did find it 30 minutes later after doing a neighborhood canvas).
In any case, people who say stuff like that is priceless, especially when it's in person and you can see it in their faces. The emotions this lady displayed on her face was just undescribable. Maybe it will be the only one I will ever get, or I might even receive a few more. But moments like this are definitely cherished.
