Ive read a total of 3 articles claiming that through this case NYPD has flipped back to urinalysis. Is this true? I will provide links to the other articles upon request.

What can new recruits expect? Im not asking for a lecture... Im requesting an explanation of the contents of this article, and perhaps a discussion..

To me it seems like the PBA is just upset that the city decided to go forth and make a change like this without their consent. It's really just a struggle for power. I'm sure the PBA can care less whether they do hair testing or a urinalysis, they just wanted the city to negotiate with them before making a decision.

It is the pee test for those on the job, for candidates, it is the hair. It went back to the pee test due to collective bargaining issues, candidates are not part of that.

I was also wondering why this topic keeps coming up?
Be an adult about it and the question should not be an issue.

I also like that some who post questions (or worries) about this, and other topics where questions are asked about about "questionable' behavior, also post the test # that they took, the dates of their medicals, physicals, pysch, and other info, that a sharp applicant investigator with a little free time, could easily narrow down to a select few.............

If you fail any of them because of illicit drug usage, then you don't deserve to become a police officer!!

I had both urine and hair sample taken at the initial/mini medical and alot of other exams had this done too. But seriously, but why are people becoming police officers if they can't even obey the law. That worries me if I ever get on the job and have a partner like that.

Hair for pre employment urine for on the job! If you do both at the medical that means you are one of the lucky random people tested for anabolic steroids. They need to use urine for that. GUYS STOP DOING THE DRUGS!

Completely agree, If you have to complain about these test obviously you doing something that Police Officer is trying to keep of the street. So why become an Officer?

honestly i don't agree with that statement fully! Honestly if you want to be a cop you don't wake up one morning and decide "hey i want to be a cop" and take the test and expect to pass everything. Most people here wanted to be cops since there were probably young. Yes everyone has tried drugs once in awhile but if your honestly worried or even curious about failing a drug test then your really not serious at all about becoming a cop...like everyone has said on this forum being a cop isn't just a job it's a life style.
