Does anybody know what kind of training the county level COs receive? Is it the same as the state correction officers?

County CO's will go to Elizabethtown State Training Academy just like State CO's do. The only difference is I don't think County CO's are required to go prior to actually starting the job. I don't know what the time frame is before they have to attend. I just know some of the County CO's had as much as a year under their belt at their facility before they attended the class I was in.
Good times, just don't do anything dumb there. It seems like there a few from every class that don't make it because of after hours night life incidents. Seems like some of the most responsible adults act like 21 year old kids when they get there.

Some is some isn't. When I went through it, we did defensive tactics, handcuffing, transporting, first aid, weapons qual. State regs and so on. I think it was 3 weeks worth.

No they don't..at least York and Lancaster don't...all training in done in house. So it really depends where they work.

I think Mont Co trains in house. As do Delaware and Lehigh County - Berks County - I think - trains in house first then goes for state certification. Of course, Lehigh County includes no weapons or gas training since every officer there - including transports - are unarmed.
