Are you asking if its the only large city in NY? Because Nj does not polygraph andywhere in the state. Its against the law there.

The answer to your question is no.

Chicago, Philadelphia, Detroit, Milwaukee and D.C. are a few large cities that don't conduct polygraphs.

Got something to hide huh?

Don't worry, whatever it is they'll find out in the BI. Most departments that don't have a Polygraph run real intense Background Investigations...

Good Luck.

PAPD does not do a polygraph. Polys are illegal in NJ when used to screen perspective employees, even for police agencies. PAPD is a police agency in New Jersey, ergo...

However, they do make you sign paperwork so that if you were ever administered a poly somewhere else they can get the records and they will use it against you.

Without going into a whole arguement about the scientific basis (or lack of) for polys, I will say to all who are questioning this poster - A poly is not a "lie detector." A "lie detector" is a mythical machine because it does not exist. No machine can tell whether or not a person is telling the truth or lying... NONE. A sociopath can pass a poly every time no matter what questions you are asking him or her. People can be trained to fool polys and poly examiners. And some people who would make good cops fail polys by telling the truth.

I agree, if you truly believe what you are saying, be it a lie or not, you will pass.

If the poly can eliminate even 5% of the bad apples, then it's a good thing. I would say it has a greater then 80% efficiency.

I know that I prefer to not do the poly. I have nothing to hide but I've taken two polys where I was told I was "being deceptive" when I was not. I feel that if I take another one I'll just be really stressed out and nervous.

Since there are also drugs that can help you mask the stress measuring of the poly any test without a full drug test screening, at the time of the test, is basically worthless as evidence.
