With the whole suffolk thing coming up i've really begun to analyze my options. Basically, literally a month before the academy starts I will be entering PA school, so it's time to pony up and figure out what i'm going to do.

3-4 Years ago, for about 6-8 months I was on anti-depressant medication basically due to just being overwhelmed with full time work / school. This was the only time in my life, and i'm currently on nothing now and haven't been since then. I wouldn't think this would be a big deal, but I spoke to my psych and she stated that she thinks they will disqualify me pretty much no matter what in her experience. She offered to write me a letter of support etc but suggested I really look into other options.

Anyone in the know think it's really that bad? I'd really prefer to be a LEO but if i'm going to hit a brick wall I need to tighten up my grades and really push myself as well as take a summer class too and double up next semester (which would be wasted if i was scpd - hence why it's a big decision) just looking for some advice.

Thanks guys.

Its isnt that bad, but in the eyes of police departments it might be. The best advise I can give is if you want this job, go for it. Stay positive, complete your schooling and dont give up. You might be put on review, but I cant see them holding you up forever. Dont try and make any thing happen thats out of your hands and dont stress out. I do think a letter from your psych will be good, and i dont know what kind of work you do now but you can even get a nice recommendation letter from your boss, or even your professors. They may not want it, but can not hurt. Again if this is really what you want to do, might take you a few years, but you can do it.
