The City of Northfield, Minnesota is currently seeking two full time police officers. The full time positions are responsible for patrolling the city and responding to calls to ensure that applicable laws, ordinances, and regulations are followed. Incumbents perform tasks associated with law enforcement and public safety, including preventing crime, apprehending criminals and protecting property and life. Process includes: minimum requirements, physical agility and skills testing, police officer written test, interviews, background/reference checks, psychological testing, medical exam and drug and alcohol testing. Two officers to start approximately March 15, 2001.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science, or a related field, with previous law enforcement experience. Any combination of education or experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities accepted by the Minnesota Police Officer Standards and Training board will be considered. Must meet physical requirements. Must have knowledge of modern policing methods, SARA problem-solving model developed by Herman Goldstein, investigative methods, and criminal law, search and seizure and evidence preservation. Valid Minnesota Driver's License within two weeks of hire. Minnesota Peace Officers license required or eligible for reciprocity prior to hire and license within two months of hire.
SALARY RANGE: $21.16 per hour PLUS BENEFITS (2001 wage) ( 2002 wage in negotiations)
