Totally diggin the new releases this year so far. Curious what you all consider the top games out there? I'm on a PS3.
I work part time jobs for a store in town during midnight openings. I'm usually there an hour and they prefer to pay me with a game rather than cash, so it's a sweet deal. I just like a bit of research before I pull potentially bad stuff off the shelf.

I got a 360, PC, Wii, PS3, and Nintendo cube. Im in middle of playing Fable 2 on 360 and I cant wait for the next COD to come out. I however love the fact it going back to WW2. COD4 was a great game but I just like the history story lines of WW2.
For the PC (when im not playing the 360) I play alot of World of Warcraft and cant wait for that expansion as well.

man, one of these days I'll upgrade to a PS3... :(
for now the pS2 will suffice...got a bunch of games there, many I haven't beaten yet. I only play every once and a while, so it takes me a bit of time to get through the games...
I'm working on Shadow of the Colossus now (slowwwwly)... but my ultimate favorite game for the PS2 is definitely God of War. That game kicks some major butt. Gruesome, exciting, epic, it's got everything - fighting, adventure, puzzles to solve... GOW 2 was pretty fun too, but I don't think anything can top the original one.
I also love the Ratchet and Clank series, finishing up "Up Your Arsenal" currently...Such a fun game. :)
GUN is pretty fun, unfortunately if I spend a lot of time between plays of that game, i can't remember what all the controls are for the guns... Get a little too rusty and you just can't beat that game. I can't anyway.
Haven't spent a lot of time with the COD series, though I have the second one, I think... lol...
Bought Max Payne, but I've barely started it b/c I haven't had much time.
Next up is BLACK.
I guess I'm a little bit of a nerd. I'm okay with it.

call of duty 4 is my favorite for ps3, the new one comes out next week but i dont know if it'll be as good as 4. i have 24 days of online play, way too much but then there's people with over 70 days. i was looking at some peoples time online play for that and for them to get that much they would of had to play the game for 6 hours a day everyday since the game came out, and this was months after it was released

FINALLY MDS! Something we can agree on!!!
For the PS3, I'd advise Resistance 2, Far Cry 2 (open world shooter set in Africa, not as good as Fallout, but still great), LittleBig Planet (it seems like a little kids game, but I've played it, and its actually a lot of fun and theres so much to do).
Anybody else pumped for Gears of War 2?

For some reason this generation of gamng has somewhat ruined gaming for me. I had a PS2 and enjoyed a number of franchises like GT, GTA and SOCOM. Three years (?) into this generation of gaming and of those franchises from last gen has made its way to current gen, the only one to make a new installment is GTA and that game was just average IMO.
I dont game online so games like COD4 dont intrest me very much because all the fun is online. Seems like devs forgot about the single player aspect of gaming for this generation. Its all about an online mode now.

SUPER NERD TO THE RESCUE!! Here's how this works:
Infinity Ward (the original developer for Call of Duty) made the first and second CoD. After the second one was made, Activision had acquired another company now called Treyarch, and had them develop CoD3. The plan was to have Infinity Ward and Treyarch switch off duties for developing the Call of Duty series. This is why Infinity Ward was responsible for CoD4, while the new CoD: World at War was done by Treyarch. Both companies are owned by Activision, so to cut down down-time between games (e.g. being able to release a game every year), Activision would still see the money coming in. CoD 6 will be done by Infinity Ward, and there was talk that they re-negotiated their contract to do all of the CoD games because of CoD4's huge success.
I'm a PS3 owner but play COD4 online a decent amount on my brother's 360.

Far Cry 2 (open world shooter set in Africa, not as good as Fallout, but still great)
Bite your tongue! I have it for PC and it’s awesome. Well, save for the annoying habit of people always returning to places you decimate, and the ungodly number of vehicles. The story line is addicting, much like Oblivion.
I have seen friends playing Fallout 3, and it does look fun, I just don’t like the targeting system much. Looks like it would get old after a while.
I had a friend pick up Gears of War 2 today, and it looked sweet…but he couldn’t play it anyway because his xbox 360 crapped out. It was funny as heck!

To Presence and Taylor:
Black is an awesome game. I think it was highly advertised and a lot of people seemed to lose interest once it was released, very flash in the pan. I guess Halo and Halo 2 trumped it *shrug*. Halo is good, and the first one was very epic, but I HATE FPS on consoles. My wife and I are nerds. We've got NES, Gameboy, GBA, DS, PSP, PSX, PS2, 360, Gamecube, and a computer. Eventually, I'd like to get the Sega Genesis, Dreamcast, PS3, Wii, and another beasty machine. I typically play my FPS and RPGs on the computer, and my action games on the consoles.
For anyone that likes series like God of War and that ilk, check out Devil May Cry. That is a pretty good series on the PS2 (except for DMC4).
Right now I was playing Hellgate London, which was good (about to die). I have played WoW, and Guild Wars. I'm currently playing the HL2 saga, and I am going to get the Left 4 Dead game once I get paid at the end of the month... :D

RCKoutWurGLKout (funny name), I sure hope you have a big insurance policy on all those systems. Or lock them in a safe when you’re not using them. Dang! Your house must run up an electric bill like no other! I agree though, I can't stand playing FPS on consoles, I can't ever hit anyone cause it’s too weird. I have to have w,a,s,d and my mouse to own. Check out this keyboard, I got it about 3 months ago and absolutely love it. Perfect for FPS gaming Keyboard (http://www.ideazon.com/us/products/mercstealth.asp).
BLACK is an awesome game, you can blow lots of things up in that game and it gets pretty hard.
I really liked all of the Prince of Persia games for PS2, took me forever to beat them because there were so many puzzles to unlock.
And FIFA is pretty too...

The LCD can tell you allot of different things temp of your CPU, case, GPU, the time, and if you play games that it is compatible with it will tell you stats on that particular game. It also tells you information on voice comm programs like Ventrilo and Teamspeak. It one of the best keyboards I have ever owned but I would try to find the first version with the blue LED its better IMO.

Yes yes and yes 100 times over! I thought I was the only one who was utterly unimpressed with GTA IV. I thought it was a total rehash of San Andreas...just prettier and with minigames. I suppose my main problem is it does so much that it really doesn't do anything awesome. What I mean is, if you've played Burnout Paradise City, there is no comparison with the driving physics. BPC blows it utterly out of the water. If you play Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (I personally prefer the pvp on it than to COD4), the shooting is head shoulders knees and toes above GTA IV. I just....wasn't at all impressed with the new GTA and ditched it after three weeks of dabbling.
Flanker: I've seen those games and they are likely good, but the premise doesn't quite do it for me. The post nuclear/alien invasion just is out of my taste range. But then again so was Cooking Mama for DS but I found the dang thing addictive anyway...lol.
I want to get my hands on FarCry 2, loved the first one on PC.

Call of Duty: World at War completely changes the rules of engagement by redefining WWII gaming and thrusting players into the final tension-filled, unforgiving battles against a new ferocious enemy in the most dangerous and suspenseful action ever seen in WWII. Powered by Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare technology, Call of Duty: World at War brings an uncensored edge to combat, as soldiers face the most harrowing and climatic European and Pacific battles in which an enemy, who knows no surrender and no retreat, will fight to the last breath, unleashing an arsenal of lethal surprising tactics. Peril and danger lurk throughout the battlefield as players combat the unknown risk of the new chaos of battle.
From the remains of Russia and the ruins of Berlin, to the beach and jungles of the deadly Pacific Theater, the volatile action takes on added depth as players employ new features that previously were only-available in multiplayer, including perks, rankings and online stats in up-to full four-player cooperative gameplay. New infantry and vehicle-based weapons, like the potent flamethrower, bring the battlefield ablaze.

I have a Wii and a PC. I hardly touch the Wii, but if I get the Wii Fit I might play it again. Wii games are fun, but there just aren't enough titles that aren't catering to 14 year olds.
PC is awesome for gaming. Of course there's the MMO's, which are obviously addictive (World of Warcraft has over 3.7 million subscribers!), and make for decent social interaction instead of just sitting at home killing random people. There are as many great FPS games for the PC as there are the consoles, and most of the console shooters are made for PC as well. You just have to have a good system and be somewhat computer literate. There are tons of other styles as well for distractions, and obviously a PC has more uses than a console.
For you, I highly recommend Fallout 3. This game really is amazing! I've been a fan of the Fallout series since it began. If you have a PC you should find the early Fallout games and give them a try for nostalgia. Oh, and you should be able to turn off the V.A.T.S. to make it play more like a traditional FPS.

Ooooh Me!
I used to be obsessed with computer games. Valve (Half Life 1 & 2, Counter Strike Source, Gary's Mod), GTA:San Andreas, and COD 2. I also played Sims, Zoo Tycoon, Rollercoaster Tycoon, and other fun simulation games.
Once my computer started acting odd and crashing often, I wiped my hard drive and switched to Linux.... specifically Ubuntu. Its now just for school and internet, since most games are for Windows and Mac, not Linux (which is free).
I'm currently using my brother's Xbox 360 while he's teaching abroad, and I may buy it off him, including games, for just the price of the console.
I'm playing the Orange Box (Valve) and GTA IV. Running lights and sirens throughout Liberty City never gets old. And when it does, one can "serve warrants" using the police MDC.
I also have a PS2 but don't play it anymore since I'm focusing on the new 360 stuff.

I am pretty much regulated to my PC for games at the moment. Crysis and Ghost Recon seem to be my main gaming entertainment for now. I built a new computer to just play Crysis at the highest settings possible. I am a bit upset that Madden 09 is not coming out for PC. I always thought it looked and played better on a PC then any console system. I'm looking foward to picking up a copy of Farcry 2 it looks impressive. Farcry will not be the requirements hog that crysis is. Tom Clancy's Endwar looks interesting as well.

I’ve played all the Half Lives, Counter Strike 1.6 and Source, Team Fortress 2, Potral, Assassin’s Creed, Theif series, Command & Conquer series, Ground Control, Warcraft 3, Battle for Middle Earth series, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Call of Duty series, World in Conflict, Far Cry 1&2, Halo 1, Rainbow 6, Diablo 1&2, Crysis, StarCraft, and I cant remember if there are more. May edit it in the future.

That's pretty awesome Spicehd!
I am definitely the semi-opposite....I just press a bunch of the buttons on the controller & hope I hit something right!
Actually, I just updated my 360 the other day & it keeps freezing up on me....Pretty frustrating - but since I can only put electronics together & don't have a clue how their inners work - I can not fix it - but, I push thru anyway....or try to!
Congrats on being happy in MD! Nice to know there's other chicks on this forum that like video games!

I liked Left 4 Dead when i played it at a friends house...but its really hectic and crazy when your playing with someone that sucks at first person shooters. Im a real big fan of Rock band and Rock band 2 and enjoy playing it for several hours at a time.
