View Full Version : The good news for conservatives
They didn't get enough to become filibuster proof. :)
That's it.
Oh. And this woman's obvious mental illness is sorta funny also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P36x8rTb3jI
Oh wait I've got another! Listening to Joe Biden (arguably makes stupider comments than Dan Quayle) gaffe for four years will be entertaining!

Not here in MO/KS. The actual conservatives held/won offices. Hopefully the Republican party will realize conservatism is what brought them to power, kept them there and abandoning it got them kicked out.

He did indeed. I took notice that Barack Obama even started spouting off conservative talking points in the last few weeks, the "main stream, media" and his own core supporters evidently failed to pick up on it.
I have a feeling that he will lean more towards the center when he takes office, if he takes office to the far left I believe that the Democrats will lose more seats in 2010 than they gained last night (which still isn't the number they'd been trying for) and ensure that he'll be a one term President. Obama won by a large margin in electoral votes, but by only 1.5% of the popular vote and he knows it.

I suppose that there must have been some who voted for Obama who also voted against same sex "marriage."
Any one remembers Jimmy Carter? His administration and policies did more for the conservative movement then any one in modern time. His administration was to bring “change” after the Nixon debacle…………..we all see where that went.

What are you talking about?? It's just the opposite. Democrat Jay Nixon won as governor. Democrat Chris Koster won as attorney general. Other democrats won and overall won more races than republicans did.

Care to respond now? I got tired of cut and pasting so I didn't even finish with the state senators (3 more for Reps) and there are way to many state reps to go into.

Heres KS in case you missed the point:
Lynn Jenkins (R)Nancy Boyda* (D)
50% 46%
Pat Roberts* (R)Jim Slattery (D)
61% 36%
The website is to much of a pain to cut and paste but the results are the same.
What you may have read or heard was Dems won all but one STATEWIDE election-Gov, AG, Treasuer. Lt. Gov is a Rep.

Obama already picked one of the most liberal Congressmen - Rahm Emanuel - to be his chief of staff. Joe Lieberman has an appointment to meet with Harry Reid and will probably be removed from his Homeland Security chairmanship due to his support of McCain. We'll see if Obama puts a stop to that.
It's not looking like he's going to govern from the center.

Ray8285, I was talking about the MAJOR races like governor and attorney general. I've never heard of any of those state senators nor do I care since it really doesn't affect me.
If there was a big conservative tidal wave in MO then they would've voted a straight GOP ticket since McCain won MO (barely). Yet Nixon trounced Holsoff by 18 points.
But it is true that by definition MO is mostly a conservative state but Dems do pull out big victories.

I suppose that there must have been some who voted for Obama who also voted against same sex "marriage."
And then there is me, I voted for McCain and against the ban of same sex marriage as it was already legal (albeit for a few months) here in California. I find little room for me in any party. It's tough to be fiscally conservative and socially moderate/liberal. Although my candidate lost I do not think an Obama presidency will bring the doom and gloom that many have warned against. McCain was without a doubt the reliable and safe choice but I'm now intrigued in what this wildcard has to offer. I may not have voted for him but he is MY president and I will give the respect that the position commands.

I am not saying there was a conservative tidal wave, we held on to what we had. YOU claimed the dems won everything, they won what they normally win and nothing else. In fact I believe they actually lost seats in the state house.
The results are not surprising, MO has had 5 Republican Govs. since 1933, 9 since 1878 and only 13 since 1824. The LT. Gov is almost identical, 10 Rep since 1824.
The reason MO is a bellweather state is because we are split. Neither side EVER really gains a stranglehold.

Heard this morning Mr. Emanuel is an agressive personality (whatever that means:rolleyes:) who SUPPORTS israel. This could be interesting.

Whatever happens now at least can't be blamed on the Republicans.
Democracy = Rule of Man
Republic = Rule of Law
