For those of you looking to make a move elsewhere, and are prior law enforcement, the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, NV. is hiring lateral police officers for the position of, well police officer. The pay is good and wiil reflect the number of years you have served on your old department. If you are a 10 year officer and topped out in the low to mid 40's, you will step right into that salary here with increases down the road.
They have a federal grant to hire 31 officers, 16 have been hired so far and the next round will be very soon. Be sure to check the Clark County School District (Las Vegas) for details on how to make your interest known.
It is a modified 3 week academy, laid back, and then a 2 week POST academy to get certified. You will then be placed in a field training program with the ability to accelerate through if you are high speed enough.
