A vehicle has a television mounted on a rear spare tire. The vehicle is an older model cadillac and has a tire mounted on the trunk like a jeep or older model continental. Is this legal in Texas and if not what is the violation. TV screens are allowed in Texs as long as they are not in view of the driver but I see his TV as a major distraction to other drivers.

Seriously, this "blinging-out" of cars is getting out of hand.

I'm sure Texas has a law about what kind of colored lights a vehicle is allowed to display, and it would probably fall under that if the TV was on while the vehicle was operated on a public roadway.

Reverse lights and license plate lights are the exceptions to that. But when you are travelling forward you cannot expose a white light to the rear of your vehicle except for the LP light... I've seen other officers stop for people having their domelights off and it emitted a white light to the rear.
