I have an oral board interview with the troopers in a couple of weeks. I'm looking for advice or tips from any one that might know about their hiring process. A year ago I went through the process before and passed, but wasn't selected to attend the academy. thanks for the help.
I am also looking into Alaska troopers. I can't help you, but thought maybe you could help me. If you went through last year, what could you tell me about whoat you went through. Do you know why you got passed over? How many applied? I heard they are hiring for fall 2003. Is that correct? Any info would help.

crazy enough to live in a native village with an average temp of -12 ( sure Haines is beautiful, but someody has to work in Barrow) with nothing for companionship but your agency issued sled dogs you should do just fine. This of course coming from a guy whose brain has been bakinh in the desert the last 9 year.
Sorry can't help but hope you both make it. It's a unique breed that can do that job.

Just say what you would do.
I sort of went through but i pulled out cause I really started thinking of the remote areas and after spending several weeks in the villages I said NO WAY.
He's right it does take a certain perosn to work in theose remote ares. You really have to love the outdoors. One riot=one Trooper.
We recently had 6 cross over to APD this past fall and there are more coming. There are all great guys.
Good luck.
