Attention: The Orlando Police Department will stop accepting applications on August 31, 2002. The department will begin accepting applications again on January 27, 2003 through March 9, 2003. Those people who submit applications during that period will be scheduled for the civil service test in March 2003. Applicants who pass the civil service test will be processed for a July hire date.

Job Description:
Performs professional law enforcement work to maintain order to protect the public, maintain law and order in the community, detect and prevent crime, direct and control traffic, and investigate and apprehend suspects involved in criminal activity.

Department Information:
The Orlando Police Department is located in the heart of downtown Orlando and is an accredited police agency with the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation. Currently, the department has 686 sworn officers who serve a diverse population of nearly 186,000 permanent residents covering 103 square miles. The Orlando Police Department is a full-service police agency with units ranging from Marine Patrol, to Mounted Patrol, K-9, Criminal Investigations, S.W.A.T., Drug Enforcement, Ranch and Grove, Bike Patrol, Emergency Response Teams, Crisis Negotiation Teams, and much more.

Job Requirements:

*Be a U.S. citizen;
*Possess a valid driver
