First i'd like to say i'm new to the forums, so what's up?
Now I have a question that has been asked before but it's just a little different. In regard to the drug questions; I am currently 23, and will be 24 in Feb. of next year, the last time I smoked was when I was 17, a Junior in high school.

I know that it's been about 6 or 7 years so that's good, but i'm concerned with the amount of times that i've smoked. I grew up in a really small town where just about everyone smoked, including my father, and it took me to the wise old age of 17 to realize that it was wrong, and I got away from it. I've never touched any other drug but weed. I wouldn't even say that I was a "real weed smoker" I probably did it about 50 times in between fresh and soph year in high school and have never touched it since.

Am I basically screwed? Will my prior military service, where I encountered a lot of success as well as an honorable discharge make any difference? (Yes I was drug tested plenty of times all 4 years.)

Thanks for any and all info.

From what was said in background orientation that it doesn't matter what you have done in the past...all that matters is that you are truthful and upfront about it now. They don't like being lied to or stuff coming out during the investigation that has been asked and not answered or answers have been changed. It makes it seem like you are hiding something. Only suggestion is to apply and when you get to the portion of drug history is lay it all out on the table. I too am in a background investigation and I wish you good luck

What I've been doing is prior to applying to any LEO Dept., I've emailed a Background Investigator or a Sergent. I explain my specific situation and they let me know if I will get DQ'd or not. It's worked well for LASD and I'm waiting for a reply from VCSD. Can't hurt.

Is Blazen your real last name? Or are you promoting something? Something to think about....Stay safe.

Couldn't have said it better myself. May not be a big deal to the general public but to the LASD it's all about the MINOR DEAILS.

I was a firefighter in the USAF and my first name is pronounced Blaze
so that's how that came about.

I was able to get in contact with Sac PD and the recruiting officer said it'd be an issue but it shouldn't stop me from being hired. Great news!

Oak told me to call back in December when they are starting another hiring round and I wasn't able to get in contact with SFPD yet.

Anyway, take it for what it's worth.

Don't even worry about it, you will be fine if that is all you are worried about.
