So...after two and a half months of waiting, I finally got the call for my Background Interview today while I was at work and it is set up for next Tuesday. Anyone have any advice? Should I add little stuff to my PHS? And should I wear a suit or just shirt and tie? I really want this to go well so any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Advice would be to remember what you put in your packet...if you have a suit, wear it. If not, a dress shirt and tie would be nice.

What stuff do you need to add? You should have put all the information in the packet correct?

Wear a suit.

Go over your PHS. The bulk of the interview will consist of you and the BI discussing your PHS and personal information. If you left anything out or remembered any details this will be the time to bring them up as you will be going over everything you have listed.

Relax and make a solid impression... and wear a suit.

Good luck

Definitely wear a suit, be honest and don't make excuses. If there was anything in that packet that would DQ you, they wouldn't interview you, so don't skimp the details. It's important to get it all out before they strap you to the polygraph.

Just had my background interview a few weeks ago and I would say; ' wear a suit.' Your first impression is important..... Your B.I. will be taking notes and be honest about everything. If he/she asks about something in your past, just be honest. Also, wear a suit in all your interviews, polygraph and your psych. interview. Remember, that everyone you interact with will take note about you. Just my 2 cents......

Had mine on the 6th. All good advise above. Def. wear a suit. If you have remembered anything between when you turned in packet and now, just fill them in. Also, if you have any better phone numbers or contact information for references/jobs that will make their job easier, provide those as well. You will do your live scan then and there, or at least I and the others I saw did. They may give you a poly date as well. I would imagine each BI is different, but it's pretty much just going over your packet and clarifying anything. Good luck!

Do you guys know how a recent voluntary repo would look in my background? I'm not making the money I was making when I bought the vehicle and now I've been struggling with this payment since. This would be the only thing on my credit if I let it go. Are the hiring standards for a corrections deputy just as high as they are for a DST?
