i finally got it!! the letter of being DQ'd from lasd. after 2 months of my backround file being in review the letter i received stated i was DQ'd for ommissions and irresponsbility of finances. i saw it coming since lasd is not looking for male bodies as opposed to female recruits.

but on the brighter side i just passed the rso written and now have the P.A.T. and backround orientation on oct 24th. so i'm looking strong for this event!! was it me or is it a complete different atmosphere at rso compared to lasd?

RSO is a completely different animal. We have about 6 of our guys (that I know of personally) that are just about ready to lateral there. Their testing is just about done. We have had some folks already lateral there, and are VERY happy!

I believe IMACHU is from the county police...anyhow he is right and your finance situation is merely a case of we are just not hiring males IMO.. and awww the falsification by ommission always loved that one.... Falsification by ommission= easy way to roll you up. You will have to explain your DQ to RSO and it will sting you a bit, but is recoverable. Ventura needs alot to apply everywhere!!! Good luck and remember as much as I love my Brothers and sisters in LASD we are not the end all be all of all policing!!!

lol the good ol' ommissions trick, yeah they got me with that. but again it was totally predictable. well i'm more then willing to explain my ommissions case with rso cuase it's nothing outrageous. and as for the finances, i have one thing as a charge off but it's been in strong payments for a couple of years now.bottom line lasd is not looking for my gender. ventura is my next shot as well. everyone says good things about ventura and rso.

I got my DQ aswell but mine stated, " Issues Involving Driving Under The Influence"..... I've never gotten a DUI so I'm not sure if my total amounts of doing it was my down fall, 250 times????

You've driven under the influence 250 times?

Ahahaa, thats not what they meant! How many times have you had any amount of alcohol where you felt you may have been legally impaired (.08) and then drove. (You can go to the DMV website to see the chart)

If that number is over single digits, you are going to be behind the proverbial 8-ball in the hiring process for most PD's. And rightfully so.

I made sure I asked that question and they said, put it down...

Ricky G,

I know two guys that did the same thing you did and took the question so literaly and were so nervous that they thought back to their 21st B day and counted every Fri and Sat night that had happened since and wrote that number for "ammount of times that you've drank and drove". It's unfortunate because the question is poorly worded and the test proctors dont help you with the question.

Btw both of those guys were DQ'd for the same reason. But they appealed and are now both working Gangs in the Valley...

I was under the impression that even with one drink (beer or booze) you would blow a .08 and are legally intoxicated. I know that when I went through a process I did what Ricky G did (beer with dinner etc..) but I didn't have any problems.

i agree with you ricky. i too take everything literal like when lasd asked the question, " have you ever taken steriods." i put yeah cuase when i was a pre-teen the doctors given me steriods to treat my asthma. but 250x's haha i would appeal it if i were you.

Appeal??? I don't really know how that works... Also with the way the Dept is hiring right now, I don't know if the appeal will increase my chances??? Any help?

I have a good friend who did the exact same thing. EXACT. and was able to appeal and is now having the time of his life working a gang unit. You contact the recuting officer you were working with and inquire. It can be uncomfortable at times but once your on, your on. No one will ever know you got on by an appeal.

I mean thats what I would do If it was my dream to be on LAPD. Some people have their heart set on one dept and one dept only which I totaly understand. (Thats me VCSD) but if thats not the case I might try and apply elsewhere before I appeal.

LASD would be a good call. unless you have something against Tan. lol
