Monterey CO SO

Does anyone have any information regarding Monterey County Sheriff's Office? Is it a nice place to work? Do they still need people? I'm interested in eventually getting to patrol.

I work with them regularly. They have some good folks working there. Their pay is a bit below average for the area. They make folks spend at least 1 year in the jail before you can apply for the road. The nice thing is you get paid the same, whether you are in the courts, jail or patrolling a sector. They are very strict on backgrounds.....thats coming from some of their Officers and a Deputy Chief. So they are always looking for folks who can cut the mustard in the background phase.

If you want to work in MoCo, look at Salinas PD. MoCoSO's pay sucks. Take a look at Santa Clara County as well - lots and lots of positions, excellent pay.
