Guys hows it going? Well I wanted to know from those who are already on the force or aiming to be if I should take this career path.. I always found law enforcement very intriguing and cool and has been something I have giving thought on persuing. My girlfriends dad is a cop for the NYPD as well as her two older brothers, so i mean its caught my attention. Though sometimes I get discouraged because of my height. I am currently 20 years old 5'5 150. Lately Ive been seeing a lot of short male officers around New York who are on the NYPD and sometimes I feel like what the heck if they're doing it why not me. Would like to know what you guys think on this one or any possible input/advice. Any current short male officers on the force? Whats your experience like?

I'm only 5' 6"; it's not how tall you are, or big you are, it's how you carry yourself that counts for anything.

Are the front seats split ?
If so, no problem here, if just a straight bench type seat in front, I may have to drive all the time at 6-4. 305 : )

5'7 230lbs and TRUST me the height does not matter regardless of if has to do with sex, a fight in the streets, dancing..lol..,playing sports...
I was at 250lbs alot of muscle but really slow, so i stop hitting the weights and focusing more in calisthenics and strength.
Forget about height, and worry more about being agile like a cat , and strong like a bull.

There's a guy in my precinct that's 6'8" and about 290. He has to unfold himself whenever he gets in or out of a RMP. The shortest officer I've seen in my precinct is a female that's maybe 5'0"...and that's being generous.

i'm just shooting from what i heard so don't quote me on anything please. But it doesn't matter what height u. As long as ur not qualified under the midget categetory which is under 4'8. Then you are considered handicapped. Which I don't believe a police department would hire u if u were handicapped?

Height smeight, it doesn't matter my friend. Another officer already said it, it just matters how you carry yourself. I'm 5'7 200lbs. Your height doesn't determine if you tough, smart, or a good cop. Go for it you won't regret it!
