I was wondering how ther moral is in the comm centers? Is it a good job? Are they 12 hour shifts?...any info is greatly welcomed. I just saw the newly posted job bulliten so i decided to apply, Ive already taken and passed the POST dispatch exam so im hoping that it can be waived. This is for the Montery park dispatch center, not the Law enforcement technician one.

Whats the difference between the two positions? Are the LE Techs the ones who are at the individual stations?

LE TECH's Do ALOT of different things, but by and large they start out at the complaint desk. it would take alot of typing to explain it, but if you ever listen to our radio, that is the SCC dispatchers talking, if you switch to L-TAC let's say, you will hear the desk talk , which is usually a LET or even a Dep working OT,IOD or what have you!!

EXAMPLE: JOE calls stations for service, LET types up call sends it to Desk , Desk assigns it to car...Same for 911 calls. If it is a Emergency you type a E in the computer and it will send auto to SCC , that when He/she will come on and say Lancaster since thats where ur from Attn Lancaster units Code 3 response Blah blah address UNIT in 2 or less, 111henry in 2, 111 henry in 2 respond code 3, if the Desk wishes a additional unit she has a open mic to talk directly to SCC and she can just say additonal please and SCC will repeat the steps I had the oppurtunity to tour the bridge at SCC and found it very interesting and much respect for all dispatchers it is not an easy job, LET and SCC dispatchers are 2 different classifications. I have much respect for a person who is 80 miles away trying to help you out, and find out where you are to send help.... I don't know if I could do it.

awesome thanks for the info... I was interested in the LET position but it requires 2 years dispatch in the public sector...I only have one year. I applied for 6 different agencies, im slowly moving forward. Thanks again.
