Most of the hispanics around here have at least 5 kids. At the rate they are coming in and reproducing, it wont be that far off until they are the majority in this country.

With the fairly low education rate and high population of service jobs, that 'll really muddle things up in about 20 years or so.

In about 50 years,we'll be a carbon copy of Mexico, with all the crap that goes with it.

Hispanics are not just Mexicans, ya'll.... I increased that Hispanic rate by having a baby last year, even though she is not all Hispanic.....all my nephews and nieces are part of that percentage...all born here to parents born here to parents born here.....
We are not all illegals like they want you to think.....and our my grandparents did not just come here to breed like dogs...which is how you make it sound with your.....each one has about 5 kids.....my God, you make it sound like we have litters or something.
I am against illegal immigration just as much as you guys, but don't plop my people all in the same category......we are not all illegal and we dont all swim across the river or get smuggled in a semi.....
People always bitch about how many babies "all those Mexicans" have but nobody ever complains about "Tanya Trailer Trash" who has 10 kids, each with a different father....one of whom is her dad.

No Bunny I did not write that just for you. I'm sorry if you took that the wrong way. I do feel that illegals are overrunning us. In Texas it's mostly people from south of the border. I'm sure it's not just limited to that though. While you cannot blame them for wanting a better life, I think we are full. So to speak, anyway.

Every day people try to talk to me in Spanish, then wonder off in disgust when I try to tell them that I dont speak spanish.

You guys sound like it's insulting to the "white man" to grow in numbers. Yanno this really annoys me. I'm half Mexican.. half White.. and I find that I can identify much better with the hispanic culture, because on the mexican side.. we are close and have respect... especially for elders... for the white side of the family... even though I respect and love them... I am by no means as close to them. I think the nurturing is WAY different.

I often thought that my husband married me because he received the closeness from my family.... that he never got from his own. It was pathetic.. Still today... he has a great relationship with my folks....and rarely talks to his own. THe Nurturing type that my folks are.. they accept him even though we are divorced.. they treat him with the love of a son.

I'm no racists, but if someone starts complaining about too many hispanics.. I generally get defensive... afterall.. North America is the mexican homeland.... as well as the Indian Homeland... all the white folk came over and anilated some races original to North America to squat their asses because their own country didn't want them.... so whenever I hear this BULL*****....I start to twitch.

I know Niteshift was just stating statistics.. and I adore him... but sometimes people say the wrong thing at the wrong time... show some of that sensitivity once in a while... and just dont touch the topic... GEEZE... Grrrrr!!!!! :mad:

Don't know what I missed, but it seems to me the issue was the Hispanics that eneter our country illegally, breaking our federal laws. I didn't read where anyone indicated they had a problem with Hispanics per se, just those who break the law by entering illegally, and leech off of our liberal welfare system.

The whole idea of categorizing people as "Hispanics" is BS. How is it relevant that that one of a person's ancestors lived in a Spanish speaking country? That's what a "Hispanic" is. It is not a racial designation it only means you had an ancestor that lived in a spanish speaking country. If my ancestors had come to this country via a Spanish speaking country I would be a Hispanic.

When the Romans were there in 200B.C, they called it Hispania....thus, the word Hispanic. The Spanish language was derived from Latin, ya know!

For those who've forgotten, including you Insane, half of my family is Hispanic. And my son, whom I love more than anything on the planet, is half Hispanic.

So let's not pretend that I had any other motive, besides posting a FACT that is actually relevant to the law enforcement profession.

Let's be fair. Mexican is a nationality. White is a race. For that matter, Hispanic is not a race either, it's an ethnicity.

I've argued this before. Lumping Mexicans, Colombians, Salvadorans, Dominicas and people from all these other countries into a single group and calling them "Hispanic" is discriminatory.

Guatemalans and Argentines are VERY different people. Lumping them together is not much different than lumping Koreans, Chinese and Japanese together as "asians". But yet, we belittle the differences in the cultures by lumping them all together and calling it "Hispanic" or "Latino".

Hispanics have recently surpassed blacks economically, indicated upward economic mobility, I woudln't say they're going to ruin this country, Watchman...

By Gov't standrads I am considered Hispanic. Both my parents were born in South America, and they say ANY origins from that continent is "Hispanic". Even though they came from the only english speaking country.
I could also check the Asian box.

Why is it if your from South America, Central America, Cuba, Peurto Rico, etc...You are automatically considered hispanic, but poeople from Italy and Sicily are still considered caucasion? You ain't more latino (...or of latin origin) than the people who invented the language in the first place...

I'm Sicilian and from what I understand (not just from watching the Dennis Hopper-Christopher Walken scene in 'True Romance' :D ) the Moors from Africa conquored Sicily at one time long ago.

on a personal note, those who immigrate to this country are welcome, as long as they realize that they are in another country, and they are expected to obey the laws of this country like the rest of us, and that also applies to our immigration laws as well.unfortunately,
there are those who screw it up for the rest when they illegally cross our borders in a truck or with forged documents , etc,or wheh they commit other crimes like public urination on private property or have sex with 12 year olds (refer to a past issue of the north county times in the local section). that's where i draw the line.

I can't get too choked up about the illegal immigrants that come here to work... My granddaddy was an illegal, but from Ireland. He slipped over the border from Canada and I'm damn glad he did...

I live in a small town outside Portland that has a high Latino population.... Some Mexican, some Hondoran and some Guatamalan. Few are on welfare and just about all work as laborers. And damn good ones, I might add. I watch them roofing houses and working a lot harder than the Anglos that roofed my house a few years ago. There an asset to our community.

I agree with Mike about Texas though. We've lost control of the lower border counties all along there. But I think it's more to do with the drug runners than the people coming here to work. Correct me if I'm wrong.
