I'm interested in applying, but because of few reasons I'm not going to at the moment.
Does anyone know how long, or when SDPD is going to stop recruiting and go back to their normal testing?.

I'm guessing, but I bet it will be full speed ahead for five years. Maybe two or three if we hit a full on recession. We still have 200 or so vacant positions. Probably as many retirements in the next two years. And I don't see the washout rate from the academy and FTO getting and better than -maybe- 25%.
If there was a recession and the budget tanked they could freeze a hundred positions in the budget and still need to hire full academies for another couple years.
That being said, as the economy tanks, you are going to see more people applying for the job... the pay will be more appealing, the retirement will look good, and people will want job security. The other smaller departments who are full now won't hire as much as us during the bad economic times (SDSO, Chula, and El Cajon have all recently slowed their hiring according to threads here) It's going to be a lot more competitive at all agencies here soon.
