View Full Version : Two questions about NYPD hiring

One - If I'm taking my medical the 17th of October, will all my testing be complete for the January 2009 class? and Two - I got fired from Wal-Mart for stealing in the past. Two positives - one - no police were involved, all in-store. Two - Wal-Mart hires an outside agency for employment verification and I contacted both Wal-Mart and the agency and the only information they will give, even to law enforcement - is the dates I was employed, my name, S.S. #, and my position. Given this information, should I tell the truth about my stealing and risk my job with the NYPD or omit this information, being that there is no way for my B.I. to find out? Any insight on my situation would be very helpful. I'm bugging out about what to do, I just want to do the right thing that will help me get this job. Thank you all.

Tell the truth bro because if they find out they will fire you no matter if ur in the academy or with 2 years on the job. The last thing you wanna do is be fired by the nypd. By the way they will wanna talk to your boss of every job u had.

all I can stay is that stealing in the past and admitting it might be excused at the back ground check however, admitting that will put you on review at the psych pm me if u need me 2 explain in further detail

Basicall you lie, they will find out later on and you will be fired. Once you're fired form NYPD its gonna look very bad anywhere wher eyou might try to look for a job. If you tell them the truth they will probably put you on review but it might not be for long.

it is always better to tell the truth in my opinion however, the NYPD psych dept are known to either jam up applicants or letting their application die.

Better than qutting your current job to go into academy and then get fired. Last class, in my friends company there was a guy who got fired 3 months into the academy. He saw a psychaotrist in high school or something and didn't tell them, they found out later and he got fired. They are basically doing yur background check for the next 2 years.

Oh and by the way as other people on here have said, tell the god dandit truth, the last thing you want to do is get fired from the job, after all that paperwork and effort. Hell i put down on my written psych i visited a shrink when i was 13, im 23 now. Put down everything, nothing is to much.

PPTTOO, are you scheduled to get in the Jan academy?

Nobody is "scheduled" to go to a particular Academy date.
You never know if you are going to get a particular Academy start date till you get THE call from NYPD. That call is usually quite near the start of that particular Academy, usually less than a week prior to the start date.
IF you have completed ALL of the paperwork, and various tests, and you have no holds, it is then more likely that you will be 4 Q for the next Academy start date.
Keep pushing forward with the required paperwork, test dates, contact with your BI, the faster you complete everything the more likely you will get THE CALL for the next class.
Keep moving forward with your physical conditioning as well...

From what other people said here, they delayed processing 8305 and other tests as of right now because of everybody else re-opening their cases. I was able to go through the process because i called in before the raise and pretty much right when the list number became available. The only thing you can do right now is wait.

whats happening right now is that with the new contract everyone is coming out of the woodwork to open up there cases. They have been hurting for recruits these last couple of classes and now with the new contract they can be picky again on who they let it. With this being said they will be offering less exams and they will no longer be free. They are now also going to be able to call off certain lists and eventually just one list untill they call everyone they want to off that list. The score of your test will be important again not just if you passed. I would call every other day to see if anything changed. But it looks like a lot of ppl on here will be waiting till July.

No you wait until you get a letter for a medical which will be a while. People off 8305 didn't get letters yet and you are 8307, so you might take even longer. A list number is given when they finally enter your test in the computer.
