Hi everyone! Well, I took my written psych yesterday and I have a question for you all. Well, They asked if I ever saw a Social worker or psychologist while I was in school and I put down that I did see one once when I was 12 years old for testing to see if I had a learning disability.
Now, I never got diagnosed with a learning disability. I'm 33 years old now, I have a BS and graduated from college with honors. I'm currently am a LPN so I hold a professional liscense as well.
My question is this. Did I shoot myself in the foot for saying that at one time in my life I saw a psychologist? The reason why I ask is because people that I have known who said they were in some form of therapy in there lifetime were DQ from the oral psychological exam. I spoke to one person about it and he said I shouldn't have said anything.
I know that my school records have been destroyed since then (my aunt is a secretary at the school I went too) and my mom said that she still might have the test results. If I cannot obtain a copy of the test results are they going to DQ for me for that as well?
Well, I never have been arrested, have been with the same girl for 6 years now, I haven't bounced from job to job (only been fired once, which will probably come up in the interview), I'm drug free and I never drank before and I'm athletic. It would suck to get DQ for something that was so long ago.
Well, any help would be appreciated guys/gals. Let me get ready for work. Take care.

you will likely be placed on psych review or hold. If/When that happens you have to send all records of the testing, interviews, sessions to NYPD psych dr.s
I cant see you being DQ'd for that unless you cant get any paperwork to psych division.

Yup. You're probably going to need to show paperwork if you put down that you saw a therapist or whatnot.
This happened to a guy my mother works with. He put down that he went to a therapist (more than once though) and he was put on review and he couldn't find the paperwork. Granted this was over a decade ago so maybe things are different now.
Try and find that paperwork if at all possible. Good luck Sk8.

Does having had "A.D.D." reportedly, hurt any chances on passing the oral interview?

wait i just read my form for the oral psych, it says (Official records need not be brought to the psychological testing. Also it says as Number 6. Psychological Information
a) Appropriate number of sessions spent in counseling/therapy seeing a psychologist, psychiatrist or social worker
b) Your age when you were in counseling/therapy
c) Dates between which you saw a psychologist, psychiatrist or social worker
It says nothing about paperwork, is it ok if we know all the information of a,b,c, but don't have it in writing?

Hey guys, thanks for replying. ;) Well, I spoke to my mom last night and she said I did the testing back in 1986 (6th grade) and I was 11 years old and it was over twenty freakin' years ago! Unfortunately, my mom doesn't have the results and my aunt said they were shredded by the school years ago.
Well, like GM I read the back of my oral psych sheet and it really didn't say I need to bring paperwork with me. I mean, c'mon, are they going to break my balls over being tested for a LD because I was doing poorly in school in the 6th grade, while I long since graduated HS, college, and hold a professional liscense? Well, I really hope they don't.
Hey GM, I don't know how long individual therapist hold onto your records, but he might not have them anymore. I was a residence counselor at a group home and they have to hold onto med/psych records for eight years. Well, for schools it's probably the samething so mine are definately long gone. Definately contact him anyway, though. Good luck, bro.
Hey, I had a coworker get busted on the oral psych for lying about drug use, and he still got onto the force. Like I said I really hope they don't "red flag" me for some testing that I did back in 1986. Getting caught lying about drug use I think is alot worse. Well, I'll find out Oct 14th. ;)

well me I'm just jittery about the whole process, being investigated for the 2 years, probation, and not screwing up on any forms, which i already have. But whatever hopefully i get on the job and maybe work out of the old Fort Apache, that be fun. haha
