anyone have anything on this? Hopefullly! hopefully i'll be going trhough the MTA police starting this january! but i'm also changing my career path as well. I made a big mistake of waiting around the police to call me while doing this bull**** jobs and i got a good job doing a sales jobs etc etc. which is solely off comission no set hours etc etc. But if MTAPD does call me can i do both??

MTApd is different than nypd, but i know for a fact nypd makes you quit your day job while in the academy, it doesnt matter what you do whether you are a landscaper or a CEO.. i would imagine an mta officer here on the forum would be of better assistance but perhaps this is the same for mta

well since the MTA uses the NYPD academy I'm gunna guess and say No that the same rules apply to us as they do to us. No workin for the 6 months while your in.
But evan more realisticly it you can find the time and energy to work another job while your going thru training more power to u.

did they even pick you for processing?
Just remember, MTAPD is not a civil service job.

You cannot work off duty with the nypd until a year after you graduate the academy. And it is subject to their approval.

They may use the same academy, but I doubt the MTA would allow the NYPD to dictate administrative rules over their own employees. Also, I doubt the NYPD cares what MTA employees do once they walk out the doors.
Best bet is wait untill a MTA cop comes on the board.
sorry for the double post.

i took the test in 2002-2003??? I got called last year took and failed the phsyical due to the stretch portion that time. Got another change 6 months later...passed it went through the panel interview....and background process. And just waiting for the next step. Was suppose to start in July because two big classes were suppose to go in this past july but at the least moment they changed it into 2 seperate classes. One in july and one in january. so i have to wait for my call in november (as my investigator said) to fininish the process. Physciological..medical then the poly. And yes i know MTA isn't civil service i put a lot of emphasize on other post. It was weird how i got called though? I got the letter in the mail starting i passed in 2003. Didn't think anything about it. My dad meets this guy at some party and he said he will see what he can do. And i get a letter within a month to go for my physical. and here i am

well the 2nd job i want to keep is technically not an hourly salary job but a comission based job selling life insurance and annuitys. Does anyone see any conflict of interest doing this? while being a cop?
