Any update on the next CPD academy????

Like many others I am being affected by the budget problems and am on the list for the next academy. Last I heard they would be making a decision sometime in sept and that Cheif Jackson did not expect any money in the budget. I just recently got hired at a retail store and told them the situation and pretty much told them it could be a year before they have another academy. Is there any new news?

If you believe the local news, it doesn't appear an academy class will start until mid next year, police or fire. I'd suggest you get the latest by calling BIU or civil service.

I've heard rumors of the current class getting cut, not a clue if that is true. I believe there was consideration for the december class as well. It appears to be getting worse and worse in columbus, not only with crime but the financial crunch as well. I'm supposed to be testing with CPD in October and am slowly loosing faith in the chances of actually getting in to an academy by the end of 09. or even 2010 for that matter. I hope they get this budget issue figured out and drop any thoughts of a rail car because if that was actually built over police and fire, there would be major trouble in the 614.

This may be a dumb question but those of us who took the written last nov. will have to retake it in nov of 09' because we will expire on the list correct? It seems like a big waste of money for those of us who are just waiting for the conditional offer to take the medical and psych.

Well i dont know exactly about your situation but i took the test last nov and had my psych in april. I Was told a few months back that they would request an extension on the eligibilty list if needed, and worst case scenario i would have to take the medical again.

I am in your same position. I am waiting on my conditional letter and I have a bad feeling that if in fact they do have a small academy soon I wont get in because I have not completed my psych and stress. It feels like a waste, but then again we never know whats going to happen. I was told that the mayor will project his 2009 budget on the 14th of Nov and sometime after that we will have some more answers. I dont know if that true but its time for those who are sick of waiting or think its not worth it to start applying elsewhere. This is the city where I live and this is the city I will work for. When will that be? I am not sure, but Im not going anywhere. As frustrating as this may seem its an honor to be this far and have this opportunity. Dont gt down on yourself all we hear is the negative that the media is putting out there because of the contract year and the money issues. Until the budget has been proposed it is all speculation. Dont get down because before you know it you and I will be sitting in our academy orientation.
