NYPD Walk In Exam 8310

I'm looking for some input on this. I took the NYPD walk in exam on 9/6/08, exam # 8310. My raw score was 94.118%, after the 5 residency points I should have a total score of 99.118%. What are my chances for getting into the January 2009 Academy?

Side note, friend of mine took the scheduled NYPD exam in October 2 years ago. He started the Academy a few months after that in January. Will I face the same luck with my situation?

yes you still have a shot to get into januarys class. You need to et hold of your list number and as soon as you have that you can start the process. Its fairl quick once you get the list number. It could all be done in one week as long as you have no hold ups.

it should say exam number and then should say list number. list number is based on how well you did on the test. the highest grade gets the number 1. then second highest gets number 2 ect. 13 might be you number im not sure cause im not looking at the same paper that you are but to get more information call apd on monday and they will be able to give you your list number or let you know when you can expect it to come in the mail, and then you can schedual your medical app. In the mean time here is a site with a lot of the info you will need.

I think 0013 is your list number.

back in 2006 when I took the scheduled exam I recieved my letters from NYPD as 6010-0### the last four digits was my list number.

0013 is not your list number. It means that your number 13 who took exam number 8310. I made the same assumption, but was wrong. You will have to wait until this month is over then ADP will generate a list number for exam 8310.

What are people's thoughts on the start date of the Jan 09 academy? We obviously have no say in this, but base off past Jan classes, any chance of the start date being the 15th or later?

the july class has a grad date set for Dec 30th. my guess would be they would start on the 12th

g, I see you asking this question, change the date of the vac to Dec. You have to be around to answer the phone when the invite calls go out.

Unfortunately I already paid over $1,300 for the trip, and booked 8 other couples to come along with us. $1,300 is a hansome ramson to just loss like that. This ish blows. Of course I booked this b4 the sweet raise. I might just take a gamble and go, with tons of calling cards and maybe an international plan on my phone for a week and a half.

If we get called to report to the Jan class, and we don't show up on the sware in date, my guess is that we can't show up a day or two later saying "hey guys, sorry I'm late, traffic was a mothaf******" :D correct? Or is there a way to start a bit (2 days or so) late?

Also if you don't report to Jan class do you have to go through everything all over to get into teh July 09 class?

You can defer entry, as long as you realize that there is a word that covers your getting into the next class....the word it "depends".

Yeah I would take that loss. hmm a vacation I can take anytime or a Chance of a Lifetime to be a NYPD officer hmm. I know most of us will choose the Career over a vacation anytime.

They do have backhire companys that usally start 2 weeks after the rest of the academy starts. that they might let you do if you have a hook or somthing. or mess up your paperwork on purpose and as soon as you get back fix what you mixed up and hope you get backhired.

gmoney718, most likely due to the date you took the test, we will (I took the test on 9/11/08) be going into the July academy. I called yesterday and was told this will likely happen.

Yea, they got TOO many recruits. Basically they hire by the date of the test, there is a chance now that people who took the tset in the last YEAR might not make the January academy because everybody who took it in the last 4 years opening their cases, which means they are going first.

The first time it took the exam was in 2002, exam # 1039. Then 2006 came along and expired it.

yea im fromm exam 4009 from Feb 2005 and SERIOUSLY considering reopening my case. I guess I get seniority on the hiring If I go in January

Anyone here who took the 8310 hear anything at all yet. I keep hearing that I just need to sit around and wait for that call/letter. At least thats what my brother (PO) and uncle (LT) are telling me. I can't stand sitting around doing nothing though, its so unproductive!

IT seems like they are clogged up with applicants and everything is slow now. Before the raise it took them a month and a half to get back to most people. People from exam 8305 still didnt' even get their letters yet and its been 3 months now. I expect they will get letters in the mail before you will since their test was earlier. Its only been a month since you took the test, it is way too early for you to recieve anything. Try calling them at the end of October to early November and see what they say but like i said, if prior tests didn't get their letters yet, you might have to wait even longer.

Somebody did post that they are trying out a new processing system or somethign like that. If that is the case, maybe once they will start using the new system, everybody from the exams 8305-8310 will all receive their letters at the same time?

When I first started this thread I had some hope that I would make it to the Jan 09 class, but now i'm being more realistic and focusing on the July 09 class.

Yeah. we are looking at July 09. I took text 8310 on 9/11. We just have to sit tight. I was walking in lower Manhattan last week and I saw a few recruiters setting up a spot where you could apply..........so they must have a need for many officers.........time will tell......

Once they bring back the filing fee.........you know they have all the officers they need.....
